CHOKED (ChARACTER SHEET)

Who's the real artist—the shy, self-serious poet or the runaway popstar with a god complex? Originally part of a larger story, this cast now lives on as a character sheet for a separate assignment.

CHOKES CHARACTER SHEET

For this assignment, I created five original characters, each shown in both 3/4 front and back views to explore their form and personality. While color was optional, I focused on strong line work and clear silhouettes for structure and contrast.

With no prompt to follow, I dove into my imagination and developed a quirky story: a fame-obsessed popstar on the run from the industry who drags along a pretentious poet girl—two sides of the same artistic ego. Supporting them were her awkward brother, a seductive groupie, and a strict manager.

Though the characters were ultimately only used for a later “chokes” assignment, they were originally designed to fit around a table and feel like part of a larger, chaotic world.

This is my first sketch exploring the characters and their evolving designs, including an early emotion sheet of the popstar—where I began shaping his exaggerated personality through pose and expression.

FINAL CHOKES STORYBOARD

This is the final storyboard, bringing my characters to life through a reverse storyboarding exercise. Using a clip from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia as reference, I reimagined the scene with my original characters reacting (dramatically or indifferently) as the popstar character begins to choke.
